Div 1 ladies travelled to UCD for their last league game of 2014. The latest league table suggested that this would be a tough game as UCD were only three pts behind Tridents. That’s exactly how it turned out. The game was a low scoring affair with Tridents leading 6pts to 4 after the first quarter. In the 2nd quarter UCD found their form and ended the half 2pts ahead. This was not a game that will be remembered as a free flowing, entertaining spectacle. It is a difficult gym to play in with archery, karate and trampolines just a few meters away. Things didn’t get any better in the 3rd quarter and UCD pulled away with a 5pt lead. It was all down to the last quarter. Tridents were desperate to finish off the first half of the season with another win to keep them at the top end of the table. The girls delivered with 20pt to 12pt margin in the last quarter. This gave them a 7pt winning margin as the final whistle sounded. Aoife Hodgins delivered a captains performance as she top scored with 14pts. Well done to all the girls for getting through this tough test. The girls take a well earned break now and look forward to league and cup games in the new year.
